A small sample of new blog...
I'd just like to make a quick post about the single that inspired this blog's name.
On August 8th, 2006, a wonderful thing happened in the world of J-pop. Yuna Ito released her 5th single "losin'", which is my favorite single of her's to-date. The single only made it to #19 on the Oricon charts due to the fact that it was only limited to 70,000 singles. Those who bought this single and "Stuck on You" were even given the privilege to attend her first invation-only contest tour. The theme track was only oddly enough the 2nd season theme song for the Japanese dubbed version of LOST.
Now to the actual review of the single...:)
1. losin'
soft, silky tone of her voice against the dance beats and violin that give this song a sweet, but all over sad tone to the song that makes it musical unique to her previous singles. It's lyrics have a great complexity to them that draws you in to this with much given back in requital. Her emotions are clear and strong and makes you feel everything that she does.
2. Stay For Love
Another dance tune on this album that really doesn't live up to it's A-side at all. It seems disorganized and at times it seems as if the instrumental is covering up Yuna's vocals. I also seems very rushed and moved too quickly without many accents or crescendos and decrescendos. (I like to pretend as if this song never existed :p).
3. losin' -Simplicity Mix-
the second B-side is a remix of the A-side that cuts down on violins and focuses more on the softer dance beats that fill the song. This is my favorite track on the single by far. The song is stripped down to it's basics and it makes you love it more than before. A great way to close a wonderful single from Yuna Ito.
