Today, via Dohhup! the promotional video for Morning Musume's 40th single was released. The PV features dance scenes in a dark room with the looks of an abandoned warehouse, lots of group scenes, and beautiful white dress solo shots. On a more personal note, this is slowly becoming one of my favorite Morning Musume PVs for sure.
The current theme that UFA is going with MM's PVs lately is really for the better. This one of their first PVs which uses multiple angle shots to create sad feeling which continues throughout the entire video. The lighting, as I said before, is just phenominal in this video the use of darkened lighting on the personal shots and in the group dance scenes is just perfect for this song. It really makes you feel the pain and hardshp that they must have felt through the "fake love" they had. The use of white and black theme colors creates a contrast that really catches your eye.
One of the things I really hate about this PV is the outfits. I can see how they fit, but they really don't work for me. However the white dresses work pretty well with this. My only concern is this...Risa really looks sickly, especially since I last saw her at AX. I hope that this is only a temporary thing. However, Reina I like much better with her hair down as in this PV. The pigtail thing has never worked for me.
Another thing I don't enjoy about this PV is the dance. I love the use of ballet but it really is a boring dance other wise. From what I could see, it shuffles the girls a bit during the music breaks but not much else. I had hoped that they would take more advange of the breaks and do something really beautiful to fit but they didn't.
All in all, I love this PV even with its faults.
8.5/10
It was recently announced today that C-ute member, Arihara Kanna is no longer with in the holds of H!P. After a long and lengthy absence from the group and her lack of participations in the groups last two singles, this was only bound to happen. Originally, she was believed to only be absent for a short time due to foot bunions. This is a very sad end to someone who seemed to be going far in the world H!P. Did her past scandal(s) have anything to do with her leaving? We'll never know...
Now on to the opinions portion of this article.
I was never really a big fan of Kanna since the beginning of C-ute. However after about Namida no Iro, My opinions on her slowly began to move towards the more favorable side of the scale. The most impressve thing about her was that she was finally coming into her own and she goes and takes a 4-month absence from the world. I really feel that this may actually be useful to her in someway and wish her all the best. If in ten years, we see hr again as a solo singer, I wouldn't be susprised. Although, the opposite is the more likely as with all those who leave H!P at a young age. I will miss you, Kanna, and your great cover of I Wish. :)
This weekend I was among the 8,000 people at the MM concert in LA and here are the MM-related things I bought.

I'd just like to make a quick post about the single that inspired this blog's name.
On August 8th, 2006, a wonderful thing happened in the world of J-pop. Yuna Ito released her 5th single "losin'", which is my favorite single of her's to-date. The single only made it to #19 on the Oricon charts due to the fact that it was only limited to 70,000 singles. Those who bought this single and "Stuck on You" were even given the privilege to attend her first invation-only contest tour. The theme track was only oddly enough the 2nd season theme song for the Japanese dubbed version of LOST.
Now to the actual review of the single...:)
1. losin'
soft, silky tone of her voice against the dance beats and violin that give this song a sweet, but all over sad tone to the song that makes it musical unique to her previous singles. It's lyrics have a great complexity to them that draws you in to this with much given back in requital. Her emotions are clear and strong and makes you feel everything that she does.
2. Stay For Love
Another dance tune on this album that really doesn't live up to it's A-side at all. It seems disorganized and at times it seems as if the instrumental is covering up Yuna's vocals. I also seems very rushed and moved too quickly without many accents or crescendos and decrescendos. (I like to pretend as if this song never existed :p).
3. losin' -Simplicity Mix-
the second B-side is a remix of the A-side that cuts down on violins and focuses more on the softer dance beats that fill the song. This is my favorite track on the single by far. The song is stripped down to it's basics and it makes you love it more than before. A great way to close a wonderful single from Yuna Ito.

There have been many things that had caused me to stop blogging. First of all, I was just tired and overwhelmed with so much going around me that I could never find any time in the first place. So, I stopped. I have posted a few little pieces here and there but nothing like I used to. Until now! I am officially back. With this return I have decided to impliment a few changes to my blog.
First stop is a new weekly feature. I had actually been thinking how I've never really done them before and thought that it was time. What is it? All I will tell you is it is called "H!P'S BWII" What does it stand for? you'll find out later on when I will post the first entry.
Secondly, Wow. There is a lot that I need to catch up on. You really just can't leave for 5 months and not have much happen, now can you?

I just want to write a short bit about my favorite Musume of all time...Goto Maki. First of all, I had always figured that she would eventually leave H!P. Ever since Suppin to Namida, I had felt that she had really started to outgrow H!P in general. By the time that she released Glass no pumps, it was extremely apperant that she was no longer anything like the rest of H!P anymore and that there wasn't really much the agency could do for me as artist. All you had to do was look at past interviews and she how unhappy she really was with UFA. Now I feel she has moved to a label that will better be able to help her grow as an artist. I wish her all the best of luck!
